Welcome to the “Selecting a Statistical Test” website.
This website was designed to serve as a job aid to assist emerging researchers in selecting the most appropriate statistical tests for their quantitative research studies. It was developed by doctoral students and faculty from the Ed.D. specialization in Educational Technology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Where do I start?
To select the appropriate statistical test for your study, two decision trees were established in this web site. In order to follow any of these decision trees, you need to previously know some information about your study. You can find more information about the decision trees and the information needed HERE.
Before you begin a research study, you will need to familiarize yourself with the statistical tests that are available to you. This website provides information and resources to help you to select the most appropriate test(s) for your research study. You can access information about the statistical tests HERE.
Why choose a
Statistical Test?
Once you select a statistical test, verify the selection with your methodologist.
Select this option if you know the type of study you want to run.
Select this option if you know the number of variables in your study.
